I went into meet Dr. Jonathan Beck at his office in New Milford. We went through everything and he took a look at me and he said that he wanted to check something. I never even had to change when he said that Id be ok and sore from the accident but he saw something else he didn't like. He then checked my neck, throat and glands. I told him that I had my T&A taken out when I was 3. He asked if I was having trouble swallowing. I said "yes, a little". I thought it was because of my dry-mouth. Dr. Beck then said that he didn't like the lump in my throat area. He told me that he thought it was my Thyroid and there's a good chance it could be Cancerous. He continued on saying that I need to go for an ultrasound and a biopsy and that if it IS Cancer, that it is "One of the Best Cancers to get"!! Dr. Beck said that its a very common Cancer and it's fairly easy to "fix" ! I went for the ultrasound and that confirmed the tumor and before I got out of the biopsy room at the hospital, Dr. Beck was calling to tell me that I had Thyroid Cancer!!!! It was SUPER STRONGLY EXPRESSED that Dr. Beck wanted me to go to a doctor that KNEW this procedure and practiced it DAILY!! It took a little while but we found a Specialist who does this every day. The only problem was that my new surgeon works at Yale New Haven Hospital in Yale, CT. I had to go once for a meet and greet and then pre-op testing. I had to be dropped off so that my sister could take care of our mom (who wants to die from Cancer, at home with her family. Those were her wishes and we agreed).
I had my surgery done on August 9, 2012. I did NOT have a voice for a while because the tumor was resting on my vocal cords. My Thyroid gland and the surrounding Lympsnoids were removed to be on the safe side. I was told that my voice should come back but for a few weeks I can NOT talk. I used a dry-erase board for a while. I didn't have any support or help with my situation because of my Mom needing her care and my Dad having some health issues (in Florida). I was told to go to an Endo, who's in Danbury, CT and he told me that I need to be Hyper but I was NOT. Over the next two years, my medications have been increased, I've been hospitalized for Radiation treatments, had multiple body scans and God knows the rest. My weight keeps going up, no matter what I do to keep that from happening. I can't sleep and I'm being sent for another Sleep Study, this one will be IN-PATIENT, my hair loss, my broken fingernails, I'm tired day and night, I have NO ENERGY EVER, I'm having dizzy spells, my legs are swelling to the point that I go for Ultrasounds to make sure there are no blood clots, I'm getting serious daily heartburn and I could go on but I'd be here for a lot longer. I had gotten shots after my Thyroid surgery and still ended up getting Psnemonia and the flu. I've NEVER had so many issues with my health AFTER I'm suppose to be "fixed"/all better.
I don't know anything about Graves or anything else really and I don't want to jump on a "band wagon" because everyone else has the problem. I just would like to know WHATS WRONG WITH ME? HOW CAN I GET BETTER? WHERE CAN I GO FOR ACCURATE INFORMATION??
